M22pank, of the Milwaukee High Lifes will now address us.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, thank you for coming. I will issue a statement and then be available for questions afterwards. Expectations coming into the season by both management and the city of Milwaukee at the start of the season was that at this point in time we would indeed be living the "High Life." Management made many moves in the offseason, chasing after free agents that were brought in to help this club. Unfortunately, some of those have not performed to their potential.
Despite our shortcomings, players not playing up to "snuff", and a major injury to Bruce Collins, Milwaukee still finds themselves in the hunt for a wild card. This speaks to the character of those involved in the organization. Guys have picked up the slack for those who have dropped the ball and let let this season fall to the wayside. Management, despite its misread in talent, and perceived inactivity, has been hard at work trying to fill holes. Milwaukee was disappointed to have two, very competitive trade offers get tabled just before the trade deadline, one of which was ignored by another organization for over a week. It was disappointing to be refused a chance to upgrade our organization by others ignorance, but Milwaukee has done its best to control what it can, like adding a quality pitcher to stabalize our staff in the form of Rusty Cox.
We are excited to get Bruce Collins back from injury and hope the addition of him, and the recent performance of our pitching staff can lead us to play more consistently and make up the ground that stands between us and a wild card berth. After this season, our talent and coaching staff will be re-evaluated and changes will be made in order to put our team on top of the very competitive division we are in. Thank you for your time, I will take any questions you may have at this point."
Manager of the Los Angeles Stars, Ajf00529, was present at the press conference and reportedly commented afterward that "The answer for Milwaukee is....this guy." (Yes, click it.) In response to this M22pank replied, "I know, right? Not going to lie, he was the inspiration for my team name...I wonder if he can hump up and throw some strikes, maybe I should sign him..." Whether he can or not is the question. The answer: probably not.
