Manager Rankings: Manager's Opportunity to Show their Skills!

Here in Hobbs World we like to track things, yeah like stats! Sure, WIS keeps most of the player stats and they are accessible from the site, but it's nice to have ONE easily accessible page (the blog) where their names can be seen and their stats compared. Right? But what about the managers!? WIS tracks them too, and so will we! From here on out we will be tracking and ranking current Hobbs managers each season, here's how:

At the end of each season each manager will be evaluated and ranked 1st - 32nd. But this will only be done for returning managers. The rankings will be based strictly on average win % (the win/loss record) and a numerical rating is generated from the differential and then divided by the number of seasons managed. The result: your manager score. (e.i. A 100-62 season record would be a "+38" because you would have 38 more wins than you would have losses. Simple right?! Then this # would be divided by the number of seasons you've managed here.). And in case of ties, you will be ranked on a schedule difficulty. (No system is or will be in place to determine this. I will take a "quick glance," assess, and rank.) Each Hobbs manager will be placed within 1 of 4 tiers. The "Tiers" are as follows: (And yeah, you get these awards along with them!)


(1) The 1st Tier, the "Gold Tier." If you belong to this Tier you are among Roy Hobb's finest managers! "Golden" in rank! This Tier includes managers that, on average, win 90+ games a year or more and maintain an average winning percentage of .556% or higher. Basically, these are the teams that you dread during the regular season and see in the playoffs year after year.




(2) The 2nd Tier, the Silver Tier. Managers who reach this Tier have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. These are Hobb's better managers, although not quite Hobb's finest! To be included among the "silver ranks" you must, on average, win between 81-89 games, thus maintain a winning percentage between a .500% - .555%. These are usually the wild card teams. These managers are the ones that are always seem to be hanging around near the end of every season, looking to beat you down and get into the playoffs.





(3) The 3rd Tier, the "Bronze Tier." These managers, although they should NOT be ashamed because a "bronze is a bronze" and that's something, they may need to work a little harder. These are the teams that linger just below the .500 mark but put in a valid effort to field competetive teams. If you belong to thei Tier you average between 70-80 wins each season, and maintain a winning percentage of .432% -.499%. Basically, these managers are ones that could beat you on any given day but... usually dont. They are the ones that become spoilers near the end of the season, looking to spoil playoff dreams of others. To meet at least the 3rd Tier, and be a "Bronze" manager, the magic number is 70! Easy enough right?

However, 70 may NOT always be possible given your team's situtaion, schedule, injuries, players etc., and if NOT then you will fall into the 4th Tier: (There's NO award for the last Tier, sorry guys!)

(4) The "Rebuild" or "Joker" Tier." Manager's who fall into this Tier have some serious work to do. For the most part these are your "rebuilding" managers who have compiled, on average, only 69 wins or less, and a .426% or lower. These "rebuild" manager's are those struggling to replenish the talent that has been lost or never was. These are the gusy you see on your schedule and think, "This one's in the bag!"

Keep in mind that these rankings are based strictly on averages, and after 3 completed seasons, if you are STILL falling into this Tier you may want to seek some advice because chances are that you're a "joker" manager, NOT a "rebuilding" one. (This is just for fun, just a term...so dont get sensitive, just get better!) The point here, watch where you fall guys because Hobbs will be!

So: Currently, with 22 managers having completed 1 or more seasons, this is what our rankings look like. Again, it is based on a strict numerical "differential" of how many wins to losses, on average, you have accrued while here. Those who have not completed 1 or more are simply TBD, and will be evaluated following the conclusion of S4. (Total wins and overall win rank is to the "right," its unfair to newcomers but thought I'd just throw it in.)
