Craig Wood

Craig Wood is the Player of the Week. He went 32/76 for a batting average of .421 and hit 8 homeruns in 19 games. Wood also drove in 24 runs.

Following his player of the week performance, during the 9/16 PM2 game vs. Dover Diamond Devils, Wood was injured in the 7th inning while flying out to LF on a pitch from Dover's Chad Brunette. Wood finished the night going 0 - 3 , and as misfortune would have it, the season. It has now been confirmed that he has suffered a herniated disk of the neck and will not return for S2. From the Montrealxpz forum press conferences we learned only the following: "The Montreal Expos GM, in consultation with team doctors, have determined that Craig Wood will miss out the remaining 177 WIS (59x3) days left this year and an additional 35 WIS days next year. If true, this would mean the team could expect Wood to return toward the end of Spring Training. The entire city of Montreal is breathing a sigh of relief... as is their talented catcher!" Still the line-up is sure to suffer in his absence, as will Montreal's playoff hopes although they are currently still in the lead by a half game in the NL North.
