Season 10 Rookie Watch (Position Players): Stars on the Rise

HOBB'S POSITION PLAYERS: ROOKIE WATCH!
This year we have had a lot of new teams step up, and it has everything to do with the new players that have been brought up and are performing to expectations, or above! Here are a few noteworthy players, one's you may see with a ROY award come next season. Take a look!

#1. Oscar McDowell: The #1 overall pick of the Season 6 draft, signing for $4 Million.

Oscar McDowell
New York
Nightmares
Age: 22B/T: R/R
Born: Stroud, OK
Position(s): 1B/RF

Our first player of note takes us out to New York, and timf's dominating New York Nightmares (34-14). Given McDowell's stellar batting, and no apparent weaknesses, it's really no surprise that McDowell appears on this season's "Rookie Watch." With 196 AB's, McDowell has the most hits among all active rookies with 64, of which 13 were homeruns. He is batting a .327, also a best among this season's rookie class, and has 43 RBI's. timf's managerial decision to place McDowell at 1B appears to be paying off, and he is already leaving a mark on opposing teams and the league. Notably, with a glove good enough to be in the outfield McDowell is a prime contender for not just "Rookie of the Year" but also a "Gold Glove. " Watch for this guy to appear all over leader boards for years to come.

#2. Doug Stahoviak: 31st overall pick of the Season 6 draft. Signing for $1.1 Million.

Doug Stahoviak
Salt Lake City
Golden Crew
Age: 23B/T: R/R
Born: Palo Alto, CA
Position(s): 2B

Next we move out west to Salt lake city, and palet99's division leading Salt Lake City Golden Crew (31-17). With 172 AB's Stahoviak trails McDowell's rookie leading batting avg. by one point, but is leading the Rookie race in OBP%, with a .414. Stahoviak also has 56 hits and 7 homeruns, and has knocked in 24 RBI's. Stahoviak is a solid well-rounded player, he has a solid bat, has solid defense, and good speed and base running. His potential also allows for plenty room for improvement. From Hobb's perspective, Stohoviak is perfoming above expectations and if he keeps it up he should be strong contender for the "ROY" award.

#3. David Ordaz:The 15th overall draft pick in the season 4 draft. Signed for $2.6 Million.

David Ordaz
New York
Nightmares
Age: 24B/T: R/R
Born: Cumming, GA
Position(s): RF/1B/LF

Once again, this seasons "watch" takes us back out to New York and timf's New York Nightmares (34-14). Batting in the cleanup spot, Ordaz has cashed in and currently leads all rookies with 48 RBI's. He is also right up there with his league leading teammate McDowell with 61 hits, and a .318 avg. Ordaz's strength is his splits, and when runs are on the bases and awaiting to be knocked in, Ordaz is the man you want at the plate. He's a solid player, has great potential, and will demand the respect of opposing pitchers if he continues to destroy their ERA.

#4. Rafael Renteria: An International Free-Agent in season 5, signing for $16.1 Million.

Rafael Renteria
Vancouver
Spidermonkeys
Age: 23B/T: L/R
Born: Campina Del Seibo, DO
Position(s): 2B

Renteria looks to make a mark as well in his rookie season on jdrake27's Vancouver Spidermonkeys (23-24). Renteria currently leads all active rookies with 200 AB's and 15 homeruns. He is batting a .315 avg. and trails McDowell's leading 64 hits by one, with 63. He also has 28 RBI's. Renteria has as much potential as anyone and is also a very well-rounded player, with great contact, power, and good speed. He will definitely help the Vancouver Spidermonkeys
this season, and should be a worthy contender as well for this years ROY award.

#5. Wilton Hicks:The 37th overall pick in the season 2 draft. Signing for $840k.

Wilton Hicks
Tampa Bay
Citrus
Age: 26B/T: L/R
Born: Central, SC
Position(s): 2B/1B/LF/DH

Hicks is a late bloomer, and has struggled to earn a role in wvwc9092's plans for his Tampa Bay Citrus (21-26) ML system. This season is not, however, his first ML appearance but according to Hobb's records this will be his official rookie season and he is making the most of it. Hicks is batting a respectable .307, with 6 homeruns and 21 RBI's in140 AB's. He was a solid All-star for several seasons at the AAA level and is looking to make a run for the ROY this year.
