HOBB'S PITCHERS PLAYERS: ROOKIE WATCH!Just as we have seen several great position players enter the league, we've seen some great pitchers as well. Maybe even more pitchers! New players change the league, the standings, and replace old names like "Fabregas" with new ones! Here are a few noteworthy ROOKIE pitchers who you may just see with a R.O.Y. award come next season. Take a look!
#1. Kevin Atkins: Drafted 15th overall in the season 5 draft. He signed for $3.3 Million.

#2. Al Fernandez: Drafted 4th overall in season 7 draft. He signed for $4.5 Million.

#3. Ken Sanders: Drafted 2nd overall in the season 5 draft. He signed for $3.9 Million.
Next, we take a trip back out to New York and timf's revitalized, all-knew, literal New York Nightmares (37-16). Much of the same said of Fernandez (above) could be said of Colonel Sanders here. While his potential may not be as great, Sanders could easily become Hobb's best pitcher and despite a slow start his rookie season, could garner a ROY award. He currently has a 3-6 record, a 1.55 whip, and 5.51 ERA. Given the strength of New York Nightmares cast, and run support Sanders is not out of the ROY running. If this colonel can stay healthy (58) he will be an excellent #1 or #2 SP, one that can take a team all the way, and the type that every manager wants at the head of their rotation.
#4. Matthew Harding: Drafted 7th overall in the season 6 draft. He signed for $3.4 Million.
Now we turn to one of Hobb's originals, dakar and his Kansas City Jayhawks (35-18). Don't let the #4 confuse you though, Harding is another strong, strong, strong candidate for the ROY. In fact, similar to Atkins (above) he may just have the greatest potential of any pitching prospects discussed to be a long-lasting, solid ace, and to make a huge impact on his team, not to mention the league! Also, like Atkins, Harding has seen some ML time in S9 being brought up at the end of the year. He pitched in 5 games, winning two and losing two in 28 innings, and finished up with a 1.36 whip and 23 K's. Harding is having a very similar, although "mediocre" start in S10. He has started 12 games, has a 4-4 record with 71 innings pitched, and only 48 K's. However, as "mediocre" a start as it may be, Harding is anything but mediocre himself! So far he has only allowed 6 homeruns, has a very good .238 oav, 1.20 whip, and a respectable 3.55 ERA. Look for this guy at only 22 to make a good run for ROY, and to pick things up as the season goes on. Lastly, look for this guy to have a great career, I like this guy!
#5. Brandon Hatcher: Drafted 17th overall in the season 6 draft. He signed for a measly $2.5 too.

Now typically there would only be 5 prospects that I discuss but I just couldn't NOT discuss these next 2:
#6. Phil Chang: Was signed through the International Free Agency for 12.8 Million. (Money well spent!)
I think it has become quite clear that the most improved team of S10 is timf's New York Nightmares (37-16), and most of that has to do with the new talent that has been called up. There were two player positions discussed for ROY, and one SP (above), and now, although closers rarely garner enough credit to win it, here is another. Chang may be Hobb's best overall closer right now, yes!, as we speak. Chang has closed 15 games in 15 opportunities, has pitched 28.1 innings and has 31 K's, an amazing .134 oav, a .213 obp, a 0.77 whip, and a 1.57 ERA allowing only 5 runs and 13 hits (no homeruns). Minor league scouting would be sending messages calling this guy "dynamite" and for good reason, he is! In addition, Chang has excellent health (91), excellent splits (94/95), and 80+ control and pitches (whose potential, from my scouting, is 90 or above). When it comes to closing this guy is as good as gold. In fact, you could say that timf has really cashed in on this guy for ONLY 12.8 Million, I meant it when I said money well spent..."Cha Chang!" I know, that was dumb, but when it comes to this guy one more opp = one more close! So look for Cha-Chang to make a decent run at ROY and be a legitimate contender for the fireman award.
#7. Jerome Atkins: Drafted 34th overall in the season 3 draft. He signed for ONLY 960k.
At this point you would think that I either manage the New York Nightmares (37-16) or am just a big fan. I'm neither, I'm actually a true rival, but I am a fan of the prospects timf has acquired and the changes that he has made thus far. Without a doubt, this team has made the largest improvement, perhaps in all of Hobb's history too. After all, this is a team that won 60 games all of last year! They have 37 already. Now, back to Atkins. In the beginning I said that the names of these new players would soon replace the names of the old ones, the old greats. I also said that "Atkins," like that of devonjain's Kevin Atkins would be doing just that. Well, so will Jerome Atkins. In 9 starts and 55.2 innings pitched Atkins has earned a 4-1 record, has struck out 43, and has a 1.15 whip and 3.40 ERA. He also spent 3 years in the AAA where he made no improvement (stayed at a 70 overall the entire 3 years), and was traded to wylie715's Pawtucket Pencil-Necked Geeks for a brief stint, and then traded back. In my opinion, as with Fernandez (above) this guy should NOT have spent 3 years at the AAA level, and actually would have better ratings had he been promoted in S8 or 9 than he does now. Still, he is making a strong run for the ROY award. Sadly enough he probably wont hit his potential, but Atkins should still make a solid rotation man for years to come.
