Roy Hobbs World has been around now for 4 full seasons and has created a certain, well-respected status. We strive to maintain that status and work to improve on and move toward the "oh-so-desirous" elite status! Hobbs World is respected because it invites fun and entertainment that fantasy baseball should embrace. We enjoy the chats, the trades, the friendly rivalries, and on occasion the unfriendly, but still not nasty, ones! Here at Hobbs we have created an environment that is conducive to all the things you should expect from HBD and more. We also have a media, see this blog, a site dedicated to the fantasy fun, enjoyment and happenings around the league, including players, press conferences, Huge trades, etc. So when you see "Hobbsheadlines" in the chat, come see! To all new guys, please be respectful as you are among friends. That said, if you have any questions feel free to ask questions as we have many "crafty" vets willing to help you out. Now back to season 5 then. This season has brought a few changes to Roy Hobbs world, and here they are:
THE AMERICAN LEAGUE
AL NORTH: (no changes) Congratulations to the AL North for maintaining the division. All teams back for a run in S5. Earned a superman badge of strength and undivision! Welcome back everyone, glad to see you all here again! Good luck this year.
AL EAST: (no changes) Congratulations to the AL EAST for maintaining the division. All teams back for a run in S5. Earned a superman badge of strength and undivision! Welcome back everyone, glad to see you all here again! Good luck this year.
AL West: (no changes) Congratulations to the AL North for maintaining the division. All teams back for a run in S5. The Division gets a superman badge of strength and undivision! Welcome back everyone, glad to see you all here again! Good luck this year. AL WEST: Ah oh! Changes to everyone of their teams! (No badges earned!)
1. From Huntington to Florida

We would like to welcome Pudderhouse, new owner and manager of the Florida TIGERS, the former Huntingon Tyro Mavins club. Puddermouse brings a record of 605-691 (.467), including 1 playoff appearance, and 8 seasons of HBD experience. We wish you luck with this club. It has been a contender the last few years and with hope, and a change of scenery and ownership, will continue to be. The league welcomes you and hopes that you will stick around to create a dynasty of these new Tigers!3. From Nashville to Little Rock

Rigamortiss has taken over the Nashville Lumberjacks ("Slumberjacks") and will look to bring this team to their full potential. Last year these guys were a bit neglected, as a result Nashville fans everywhere ridiculed the team and their lousy drunk of an owner. Now, run from Nashville, they will look to pick up the pieces as the Little Rock Travellers. New manager and owner Rigamortiss, ironically, should spark some new fire and life into this young team and look to lift the rigamortiss that set in from last year. As a new manager to HBD this can be tricky, but with the group of crafty veterans within the confines of this world you should find the help you need. Just ask! The league welcomes you and wishes you well throughout the season, and hopes that you will like it here enough to stick around to see the Rock Travellers meet their success!2. From San Juan to Richmond

After a 79-83 season for long-time Hobbs manager and owner Jpelot, of the San Juan Mojos, has decided to relocate and rename. The Richmond Smokers will be the new name and forum where success will be found. "I think this field is a better fit for my team in the long run" said Jpelot in an earlier press conference. So we shall see!4. From New Orleans (Champs) to Austin

Now this move, I must admit, came as a shock to Hobbs World. The reigning world Champion New Orleans Bayou Bengals appear to no longer exist! The Bayou parade went well until the news broke that the club would be picking up and moving west. Long-time Hobbs owner, very successful, current champion Kemosabe11 must have plans for the club to be Austin. His club moves to Austin Kangaroos for season 5. So while we dont understand the move, nor do the fans - as they riot streets, loot groceries, tip cars over in the street as we speak - we must assume there is a reason they left. As for the Austin fans, well, compared to what they have had in the past they are just thrilled! A world champion team, are you kidding me? Frome a recent press conference Threester commented, "I'm just glad that a team that was bankrupt because there weren't enough fans suddenly has a ton of them. Winning sure changes everything." While New Orleans wonders why, and how this could be, Austin is happy! NATIONAL LEAGUE CHANGES
NL NORTH - Brings just one change for S5.
1. From Trenton to Vancouver

Once again the former Montreal Expos, turned Trenton Thunder for a season, pick up and move to another forum in search of a perfect fit. After a decent season, improving from 55 wins in S3 to 72 in S4, Crimsontears was fired. Stepping in is new manager and owner Jdrake27, bringing a winning record of 1879-1847 (.504), including 23 total seasons of HBD experience, 7 playoff appearances, and 4 division titles. They have decided to move to Vancouver and will be known as the Vancouver Spidermonkeys. We wish you luck, this teams showed last year that they can compete, and have great hopes for a division title in a competetive but still relatively weak division. We hope you will like Hobbs World and stick around for several seasons. So again, good luck!
NL EAST - Brings just one change for S5.
1. From Augusta to New York

From the Hartford Hand Bananas in S1, to Jacksonville Suns in S2, to Augusta Sea Dogs in S3, New York fans hope that their New York Nightmares will find their final resting place for season 5. As expected manager Cwonde1, with his 58 wins, was asked to step down after 1 season and has been replaced by new manager and owner Tk21775, who has already "renewed." So hopes are high for both New York City and Hobbs World that this franchise will see the same owner 2 years in a row, for the first time! What a nightmare it has been! To turn it around manager Tk21775 brings an overall record of 146-178 (.451), and 2 complete seasons of HBD experience. In a recent press conference he stated, "Wow, I figured this would be a rebuilding project but it's even worse after really looking at them. I appreciate the invite to this world, I've heard great things; just hoping that no one is expecting too much from this team for a season or two." Hobb's media would have to agree, this franchise has lacked a steady owner, and while there may be a few gems here and there it will require a dedicated manager to pull in the right pieces and straighten out the crooked path paved by the 3 previous "one and done" managers. In a competitive division this will be no easy task but under the care of a skillfull manager, can be! Good luck, and welcome to Hobbs and the NL east!
NL SOUTH - Brings one change for S5.
1. From Austin to Durham

After 1 unsuccessful season in San Juan, followed by 3 in Austin, Rpsrn has picked his club up and moved them to Durham where they will be the Durham Bulls. Fans in Durham are excited, and fans in Austin are too, they could not have asked for a better move! These fans are the happiest they have ever been! Out with the old and in with the new reigning champions now known as the Austin Kangaroos (Former New Orleans Bayou Bengals), suits them just fine. Still, Rpsrn will look to make Durham the place where this club catches a break, and the ball. Coming off a 42-120 season there was little of either one. In a recent press conference manager Rpsrn commented as to his reasonong behind his move, "Due to the record number of losses, and poor attendance the Austin Anteaters have decided to move their franchise to Durham NC. (it was actually at the request of another owner). We have committed that we will strive everyday to put the best team possible on the field." We can only guess who that owner was (huh hmmm... Kemo!!) But either way, good luck in Durham and good luck to Kemosabe11 in Austin!
NL WEST - Brings one change for S5.
1. From Tacoma back to Oakland where it belongs!

For those of you that were not around in S1, well, this club originated in Oakland as the Oakland Breakers and under management of owner and manager Indy_Indians, and now hes back! In S1 he led this club to a 101-61 record and to the NLCS only to be beat out by Drvmu1's Dover Diamond Devils. S2 was not as successful, turning in a 86-76 record. Taking over in S3, manager Lcfiore took great care of this club moving them to Tacoma where they were named the Tacoma Red Radicals. In fact had a decent shot at the title last year after sneaking into the playoffs on a tie-breaker despite their very good 92-70 record. They lost, however, in the first round of the playoffs. So Hobbs World would like to officially welcome back Indy_Indians, we have been hoping you would return, as was Oakland. This was a great team and we were sorry to see you and them go. On the same note we are sorry to see Lcfiore leave as well, and if you are out there we will welcome you back anytime also. But what better replacement than bringing one of these two back! That said, welcome back Indy_Indians and good luck in S5!
