Beloved Owner Hotdog Dies-3 Players Indicted

Controversial owner Hotdog passed away today;his death was not unexpected as it followed a lengthy and chronic illness of suspicious origin. Authorities are investigating a possible link to the death of his friend,Tom Fool, who would have been there. Ballgame represented the league at the funeral and broke down with uncontrollable weeping. Commissioner Palet denies he was responsible and statements before his death exonerated him, although he was described as "a person of interest" since it was he who pulled the plug. However,Hotdog stated,"Palet was good to me;he only did what he had to do when there was no hope." Three young pitchers have been indicted for involuntary manslaughter based on deathbed statements from Hotdog. He said,"Happy Blue,Chili Baker and Norm Mateo did it after I gave my heart and soul for them. I got them to the majors on the fast track. I believed in them completely and they stabbed me in the back. They destroyed the pitching staff and there was nothing left. They decided to get even with me after I had to send them down and they have not done much there, either." The means used is a mystery;the perpetrators carefully covered their tracks, leaving behind no physical evidence so the case is built on largely circumstantial evidence. The same was the case with the late Tom Fool although his official cause of death was listed as a "broken heart." Players and fans alike were devastated by his passing. Fans burned their tickets in anger, setting off a major fire at the stadium
Grieving players wore burlap and covered themselves with ashes from the fire. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze quickly so that the stadium remains in good playing condition. Hotdog was laid to rest on the shores of Lake Wobegon in accordance with his wishes. Ballgame's
eulogy included this statement,"No matter what anyone thought of him,we all agree there will never be another one like him;he represented the spirit of Roy Hobbs He never gave up."
