GLOOM AND DOOM

Just when we start winning two starting pitchers(Harold Palmer and Red Davis)go down for the season. All season, the starting rotation has been mediocre but satisfactory. As usual, the pen looks like they weren't paying attention in rookie ball. Alan Duncan has been a ball of fire offensively and
career minor league first baseman Allen Brown is the big surprise. He came out of nowhere to make the club and has proven he belongs in the show. The elderly(37) Carlton Wade still has the bat but nothing else. He's been a defensive disaster and can't play every day anymore. His replacement,Pedro Prieto, will never win a batting title;the power and the glove is there but he can't find first base. After a dismal start and very little playing time,Lonnie Felsen, has emerged at second base with Tim Lofton moving to third. These recent changes have upgraded the defense and Felsen is swinging the bat minus power so far. Overall,we have hit well but Nick Black,David Flores and Ivan Morales are riding the bench to our surprise because of their lack of firepower. Given the injuries,we are praying for Farmer Roberts to step up. Dusty Kennedy doesn't cut it but he's in the rotation. Otherwise-Dicky Wingo and Greg Willis get the job done. Turner McMahon is going gray but still fits for this season. That leaves Will Perez to lead the pen so maybe we should just call up the guys from rookie ball. "Wait 'til next year" won't work anymore because there very possibly won't BE a next year. We have to play .500 ball the rest of the season. Only recently have we played that well and now the injuries are likely to finish us off for good. If,by some freaky chance, there IS a next
year,I'd like to switch teams if possible;I gave up on these misfits with no farm system a long time ago.
