AMERICAN LEAGUE ROOKIES: Who to watch out for in S4, and Why!
(1) The long awaited "Superman" from S1, Round 1, overall pick #2 out of the University of Washington will showcase his skills in his debut in S4. Ordaz's asking price was $3,910,000.
(2) Taken 1st overall, the only one taken before "Superman," from Pratt Community College, Amaral signed on with a $4,000,000 bonus. He brings a 33-14 minor league record and should make an impact for Honolulu in his S4 debut.
(3) After 3 years of AAA ball and a .337 batting average and .424 on base average Powell makes his debut at age 24. Powell will be a solid DH with a great bat but will serve the Lobbyists as a decent backup at the C position with a mediocre PC but a strong arm behind the plate.
(4) Bobby "M," from Gateway Community College was drafted the 1st round, 8th overall, of S2's amateur draft. After signing a $3,350,000, and just 2 years in the minors he is READY! With solid bat, excellent speed and base-running abilities, even good fielding, this guy should add immediate, and much needed "Mojo," to the Mojos.
(5) Correct me if I am mistaken but despite getting his ML debut in S3, because he played in only 23 games (85 at bats) S4 will be Miller's official Rookie year. Miller will be serving Threester and the Pilots as a solid DH at the 6th spot. He also has excellent health and a respectable PC so look for him to provide the newly acquired, but aging All-Star C Angel Barrios, with rest as needed.
(6) Taken 8th overall in the Rule 5 draft, Fernandez is a huge "snag" from the San Juan Mojos, who will make his ML debut in RF for the Milwaukee High Lifes in S4. Fernandez possesses excellent contact, good splits, and a great batting eye so should fit in nicely as a "High Life."
(7) This Lobbyist possesses excellent contact and good splits and batting eye. He also brings an excellent glove and fair speed and base-running at D.C.'s 2B spot. The only question with this prospect will be his health. S2 brought a a 7 day DL visit with a dislocated shoulder and a 60 day DL visit with a torn knee ligament.
(8) Maloney, another of threester's S4 Rookies, had his first taste of the ML in S3 where he went 4-1 in 8 starts and 39.2 innings pitched. A sturdy, and very healthy "south paw" with good control, splits, and an excellent first pitch, should make a huge impact in Albuquerque in S4.
(9) Delaney will make his debut in S4 as part of Milwaukee's bullpen possessing a rare combination of high endurance, very good control, good splits, and 2 very good pitches. The drawback to Delaney's skill-set is his low durability. This may limit his production, but if he can space his Ip's he may contribute to the success of the High Lifes.
(10) Yes, another pilot will provide for Hobb's top 10 rookie impacts for S4. And like the previous 2 saw time limited time toward the end of S3 where he played in 23 games, had 90 at bats, and batted a .289. As Albuquerque's new CF Abreu is quite possibly, or may become, Hobb's greatest outfielder. With excellent health, and an 87+ in range, glove, arm, and accuracy, not much will get by this guy whose fielding attributes all project into the 90's. His bat will be a huge additton as well with excellent contact, good splits and power. In fact, he should have been # 4 or #5!
