Season 3 of Roy Hobbs World has brought a few new faces to the league and with all that has been going on, with league fills and closures, we hope that everyone sticks around for a while. In attempt to spark the interest and increase league interaction I will be spotlighting managers throughout the year. Through these "spotlights" we can get to know all those we are playing with and hopefully spark even more interest and strengthen the league bond! So, our very first spotlight, and one of our newest members: lcfiore, manager of the Tacoma Red Radicals.
Overview of lcfiore's HBD Career:
| Overall Record: | 419-391 (.517) | Total Seasons: | 5 | |
| Post Season Record: | 9-10 (.474) | Division Titles: | 3 | |
| Best Season Record: | 100-62 (.617) | Playoffs: | 3 | |
| Worst Season Record: | 59-103 (.364) | World Series Titles: | 0 |
Q: Why did you decide to join Hobbs World?
A: The blog of course! I also knew some of the owners and was hearing good things about the league. I kept an eye on Hobbs for a season or so, and when the league rolled over I jumped at the opportunity to join.
Q: Who is the best player on your squad? Tacoma's STAR!
A: Tip of the cap has to go to Bernard Bergeron, Season 2 ROY. We have a Bernard Bergeron Bobblehead day scheduled for the first homestand.
Q: Where did you come up with "Red Radicals"?
A: Washington state was home to a major socialist and labor party movement in the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century. Red is a common color used to symbolize socialism. Deep, huh?
Q: What is your outlook on this years season?
A: We won 86 games last season, so anything less will be a disappointment. That said, the owners in my division are preternaturally gifted. Getting out of the league--much less my division--will be a real challenge.
Q: Who do you consider you biggest rival in the league? (friendly, of course...but competitive!)
A: I haven't played with brettm1220 of the San Francisco Dedringers before, but so far in Season 3 he's been two clicks of the mouse ahead of me in every respect. So I sense a rivalry brewing--especially since he hired away my old pitching coach for $4.1m.
Q: Have you ever won a WIS championship, in any sport?
A: Nope. I stick to a straight diet of HBD.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Chicago. By the way, no one here is particularly upset about Gov. Blagojevich's crime per se--we just can't believe he could be stupid enough to get caught.
Q: Who is your favorite baseball player of all time and why?
A: Pete Rose. Setting aside, if we can, the fact that he was banned from baseball, here's why: he had some natural talent, but he was by no means the most naturally-talented guy in the history of the sport, or even during the years he played. I feel like he became a great player because he made the most of his talents, worked hard, and hustled. I love the scrappers. I guess I also love the jerks--AJ Pierzynski is my favorite current player.
Q: At the risk of sounding a bit like pre-school on your first day...what is something interesting about yourself that you may want to share?
A: I have a small obsession with traffic patterns and flow. Mostly when traffic isn't flowing at all and I have plenty of time to sit there and think about it.
Q: Name or Nickname that you would like the league to know other than your screen name?
A: “Friends” call me El Don
