Doofus Owner Hinders Own Team

League suffers as Columbus owner abandons even most basic responsibilities

Although the Columbus franchise could have protected their blue chip catcher Craig Wood at any time in the first 7 days of this season by simply putting him on their 40 man roster with all of three clicks, and despite voluminous warnings about the approaching Rule 5 draft, team owner and GM froidl failed to do so and has placed blame on the draft itself. "The rule 5 draft is stupid, it rewards those teams that suck, and punishes those that either don't have the time, don't know what they are doing, or forget." As most of us are aware there is a definite and worthy purpose behind the rule 5 draft and this is NOT it.

Not willing to stop defecating in his own hat by letting one of the best prospects in the league float away on his self made poop flume, froidl announced immediately upon discovery of his screw up that he would abandon the team and not even lift the simplest of fingers to try to reclaim some talent for his club. This is clear in his remark, "I am done with this team as soon as I can be replaced." The only effort the owner seemed willing to make were these finely worded press releases. In which he blamed the game, the league, and "the stupid Rule 5 draft".

Early in the day, Kansas City owner dakar created a stir when he held a press conference of his own to suggest that froidl re-evaluate his decision to leave the league by first "grow(ing) a pair". Froidl, as is his custom, could not be bothered to respond. Unsurprising, perhaps, for someone who may in fact be missing their sack...or tools that is. If he doesn't have what it takes to protect one of his best it seems unlikely he would have what it takes to fix it.

Despite the stir that Columbus owner created in his demand to be replaced, the league will not suffer. Hobbs league commissioner squirrel1014 responded swiftly to the situation and had a great replacement owner in place by lunch. Keeid12x, a veteran owner with 3 World Series titles; 2 in No Quitters!!!!, and 1 in Greenberg, will take the reigns of the still prominent Columbus Discovered America team. He is currently carrying 4 teams, all with winning records and his lifetime winning percentage is at .565. It's hard to imagine us finding a better owner to take over froidl's squad. Therefore an official welcome to the Roy Hobbs league for Keeid2x and a thanks to Squirrel1014 is in order.

There is even a lesson to be learned from this all; lift a finger gentlemen, make the 3 clicks and protect your players that deserve protecting. In other words don't "froidl" things up for yourself. If you don't you will only have yourself to blame as do the managers and GM's responsible for allowing the likes of Johan Santana, Roberto Clemente, Christy Mathewson, Dan Uggla, Bip Roberts and Josh Hamilton (to name a few) slip into the rule 5 draft. It has been done before and will happen again, just be sure it doesn't happen to you!
