Sitting in 2nd place in the AL North, 11 games behind the feared S1 Champions Seattle Imperials, is our next spotlighted manager: wholck, manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, and newcomer to Hobbs league for S3. So another welcome to the league!!!Overview of wholck's HBD Career:
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
A: I joined Hobbs World because it seemed pretty stable, I wanted to be in a third league, and I thought this team seemed like it had potential.
Q: Who is the best player on your squad? The Phillie's STAR!
A: I just signed Don Ross as a free agent. He’s studly, although on the downside. Hopefully it takes him 5 years to bottom out. I think Jeff Pearson will hit a ton of homers someday, maybe even now. He was a SS in the past, but I’m going to play him at 3rd. We’ll see.
Q: Why are you the Philadelphia Phillies? Big fan? just because?
A: I am a big Phillies fan. I live in Delaware, which is right outside of Philly. I’ve been a season ticket holder for years, but my buddies and I gave up our tickets this year as all of us were dealing with divorces, etc. Our tickets were 29 rows behind home plate and were going for $3,000 per seat for the World Series. Ugh.
Q: What is your outlook on this years season?
A: I think I will field a competitive team. I think my offense will be solid and my rotation will be acceptable. My bullpen will be horrible though.
Q: Who do you consider you biggest rival in the league? (friendly, of course...but competitive!)
A: No rival yet.
Q: Have you ever won a WIS championship, in any sport?
A: No.
Q: Where are you from? (What part of the country?)
A: I live in Newark, Delaware, home of the University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens.
Q: Who is your favorite baseball player of all time and why?
A: Mike Schmidt was the Phillies best player when I was growing up. I was 8 in 1976 when the Phillies one their first division championship in forever and 12 when they won the series in 1980. That sealed the deal.
Q: At the risk of sounding a bit like pre-school on your first day...what is something interesting about yourself that you may want to share? (Anything!!)
A: I graduated law school, but don’t practice law. I have a 14 year old and a three year old. I collect Frank Sinatra memorabilia.
Q: Name or Nickname that you would like the league to know other than your screen name?
A: I don’t have one.
